How are you celebrating Mother’s Day?

8 May

My Mother Kept A Garden
My Mother kept a garden,
A garden of the heart,
She planted all the good things
That gave my life it’s start.
She turned me to the sunshine
And encouraged me to dream,
Fostering and nurturing
The seeds of self-esteem…
And when the winds and rain came,
She protected me enough-
But not too much because she knew
I’d need to stand up strong and tough.
Her constant good example
Always taught me right from wrong-
Markers for my pathway
That will last a lifetime long.
I am my Mother’s garden.
I am her legacy-
And I hope today she feels the love
Reflected back from me

A little cheesy? Yes! But so incredibly true. I have been immensely blessed in my life to have been surrounded by such love. I was given a mother, a grandmother and an Oma, who helped shape and mould me in their own unique way. Each had her own love language that taught me how to better reach out and love others. And now that I’m a Momma, I understand their love for me, as well as all their other children and grandchildren, in a completely new way.

While I realize that not everyone has such a perfect or loving relationship with their mothers, I do hope that you have at least one woman in your life that you can look up to and thank on this commercially created, and yet well meaning, holiday. Please find at least one woman that has helped you get to where you are today and thank her for her love and support. Just reach out and love someone on Mother’s Day!!

Not that I expect anything beyond a simple hug and kiss on Mother’s Day, here is something that I love…Please check out Colby’s story!!

No Kicking Penguins

Not only is this totally awesome and I secretly freaking want one of his t-shirts, but all of the proceeds go to support funding for Autism programs!!

Ok, so I can live without the t-shirt, but this is really what I’ve had my eye on for maybe something such as Mother’s Day…

Delila Bag – Park Fountains

However you choose to celebrate Mother’s Day, even with a simple card or breakfast in bed (because she’ll still love that!!) I wish you nothing but love and joy 😀

From my heart,

Erin
